Spelling Mistake in Passport

Hi,

In my parents passports, there is a spelling mistake in surname. Iam about to take apponitment for Visitors' visa.

Let me know whether it is safe to get it corrected and then take appointment for visitor visa?

Does US embassy people check surname spellings in my passport as well as parents passport before issuing the visa?

If your parents can live with that surname on the passport, they can go for the visa with the same uncorrected name.

It does not matter if it matches exactly as your passport.

In my passport, my parents surname is correct. Whereas in thier passports surname spelling is incorrect.

Is that fine?

Will it be an issue when they go stamping to US embassy?
