  • Urgent help - DS-156 - interview tomorrow

I have made some changes in DS-156 and have asked my parents to take a print-out of the same. All sections in the document are filled up except for the signature of the person preparing the form who is me (I have put my details in 40 but the signature will not be there as my parents are taking the print-out). Can I take a print-out and scan that and send the signed DS-156 to my parents? Is it ok if DS-156 is scanned?

    Please help

Scanned copy may not fine as the barcode information can get messed up especially the new barcode on the evisa form. The visa form from VFS still does not have the new barcode but has the traditional barcode.

Let your parents verify everything that you filled, go over the forms and can possibly remove your information from who filled the form section.

Thanks. I had sent the DS-156 correctly sometime back. But I modified it online and have asked my parents to take a copy. Can they make the change in the previous DS-156 that I had sent to them that has my signature? Will the DS-156 that I updated online have a new barcode? It has a new updated date though.

The one used in India, the barcode remains the same and the data is not barcoded.

The one used by evisaforms has the DS156 data barcoded on the third page.

Thanks. Can I modify the section 40 online now? The screen is opening up, but I am not sure if I would be able to submit? Can I say that Yes to 39 question but not fill up anything in 40? Because, as per immihelp, 40 is only for paralegals

You can modify anything that is modifiable. But I believe changes are allowed only upto 48 hrs. No harm in trying.

Thanks a bunch for your replies.

I was able to modify the form 40 hours before the interview time. My parents took the printout, went to the interview and got their visas.

              Questions

              1. You have indicated that your sister is visting US currently. Why do you want to go to your son when your sister is already visting?

Ans: My sister is visiting her son and her travel is not related to mine. We are visiting our son.

              2. How did you get leave sanctioned for 6 months?

              Ans: Please see my NOC.

              No other questions were asked

Also, my mother's sister is currently visiting US and that is why she had mentioned that in Q-37 of DS-156. I am not sure if this was necessary because, anyway my mother's sister cannot file any immigrant application for my mother. I didnt want to take a chance and hide this and hence mentioned this in DS-156.
