  • Confirmation that my I-94W departure was recorded?

    Hello everyone.

Back in 1997 I travelled to the US using a I-94W visa waiver but did not realise that I was required to hand the card back in upon departure.

I have only just noticed the card still in my passport and as I am now applying for a Diversity Visa, I'm worried that this oversight will damage my visa application.

I am in the process of collecting supporting documentation for when I return the card to the CBP by mail so they can update my record as departed on the correct date.

I was wondering if anybody here knows if it is still possible to write to the CBP (4 months after returning the card) for confirmation that my I-94W departure was recorded?

I know this definitely used to be the case but it seems they updated their Q&A section for this last month and removed this option:

I did not turn in my I-94 when I left the U.S., what should I do?

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer!

    Dave.

Clicking on the link you provided , the CBP page providing the answer does open up, showing it has been updated April 23, 08.

The link does work but the OP is asking about the confirmation option that used to exist which does not anymore.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Thanks txh1b, reading it again I guess I didn't really word my post that well.

That's exactly what I was asking. Does anybody know?

            Thanks everyone!

            Dave.

sorry, I could not understand your question from your original post.

I am not sure there is a way of confirming by mail, if it has been corrected but you could have someone in US call the USCIS some time after you have sent in the documents.

Hi peace, thanks for that. I didn't know I could call them. I'll give it about 4 months and give them a call.

                Thanks heaps!
