Mother got Visa!!!

Hi,

My mother got her visitor visa for 10 years.
Thanks a ton to the Immhelp and their great team. I only referred this site and for any small question I chcked the threads or asked the Mods there.

My mother is widow and both son are in US. I knew that her chances of getting Visa are less, so I prepared the documents very seriously and made sure nothing is missed. I wrote the invitation letter and mentioned all aspects in it.

In her cover letter, we mentioned all te reasons and ties she has in India and will come back. We did the interview preparation and gave her questions to prepare.

Need your Help

My mother is also a widow....we're two brothers....both out of country (India).....If possible can you provide me with your templates for documents/letters that you had submited please.....It would be greatly appreciated....

Question asked to her:

Q.why do you want to visit USA
A.For tourism and to visit Son's family

Q. Hows many kids do you have
A. 3, two son one daughter

Q.and where are they
A.Sons are in USA and daughter is in Delhi

Q.who will sponsor your visit
A.my Son

Q. what is his salary
A. my mother gave the Sponsors docs, the folder contained all my docs

they checked the docs for some time, than discussed for some time. They were two VO's. than said congratulations, we will give you a 10yr visa, but you sould come back in 6 months.

thats it, my mother said I will be back in the allowed time. The VO did not check any of her property docs. It took 15mins.

She was supposed to go at 11:30, but she reached the consulate at 9:15. The visa staff outside asked her what time she has her interview, she said 11:30. But they let her in by 9:30. I guess the officers inside where pretty free that day and they allowed people before there time.

please feel free to ask me any question you have. I know how it feels before you apply for Visa. The ****** is prepare the docs throughly. and Do not lie.

All the templates are there on this site. What I did was to modify them according to my situation. like... in invitation letter I mentioned that i am calling my mother from last 2 yesrs but she is not able to come due to her responsibilities (my grandparents, property, pets etc).

In the cover letter (from my mother to consulate), we mentioned in 5 points the ties she has to India and her reason to come back. mention everything even pets... but remember to clarify who will take care of all these responsibilities in her absence for 3- 4 months...that is important

anyway... VOs are very experienced so always be honest

Below are the all documents submitted and were arranged as:

1. First folder with (labelled as: Visa Application Folder) her interview was in mumbai, so this folder was a copy of whatever was send before interview:
DS-156
DS-157
Appointment letter,
Passport,
HDFC receipt,
passport beginning page/last page copy,
Visa photographs.

2.Second folder labelled VISITOR DOCUMENT FILE containing:
Covering letter,
CS statement,
House docs (and other property docs),
Bank statement,
Pention book,
FD's and
the family photographs.

3.folder labelled SPONSOR DOCUMENT FILE containing
letter from me to consulate,
Invitation letter to Mom,
I-134 for Mom,
letter from bank,
Employment letter,
Bank statements(3 months),
Taxreturns(3 yrs),
W2 forms,
PayStubs (3months)
copy of my passport all pages and
my 10th class marks memo for birth certificate.

We bought her a transparent folder where she kept all these documents and lablled them.

can the copy of 10th marks memo works for Birth Certificate?which have you sent-- original/copy(all of your documents)?

I only sent the 10th marksheet (I do not have birth certificate)
and than you have names of parents on Passport also.

I have read many threads on forums, very rarely they will ask for Birth certificate.

Yeah, birth certificate is usually a good to have but never seen one that said VO asked for that.

i understood that you have sent 10th marks sheet and it will suffice the need..but jus wanted to know whether the copy would work or should send the original of 10th marks list?

Birth certificate

Hi,

I wanted to share this information about getting birth certificate here in US.

I was surprised to note at the Indian consulate located at SFO does issue birth certificate for a fee of $10.

The birth certificate from the consulate is based on the passport and other docs and USCIS does not accept that as valid for GC purpose.
