    Hello Everyone,

I went to US back in 2001 on student visa and have been in US till March 2008. After graduating, I was working in US on H1-B visa. This year in March - due to some family emergency - I had to leave US in a hurry. I got my H1-B stamped at the Dubai counsellate in April 2008 as my family stays in Dubai.

In May 2008 - I decided not to return back to US and resigned from my current job. I've joined my friends in India and have started working on a startup Idea. I'm a co-founder and our company is only 1 month old. Currently we dont even provide any salaries to us.

I need to go back to US in September on a short visit of 10 days as I have to take care of several things - sell my car, my personal belonging etc etc.

    I have the following questions:
    1) What documents should I take. I only have an email with DIN (Directors Identification number) to indicate that I am a cofounder of this business.
    2) We dont have any company revenue or salary slips to show yet.
    3) Should I be applying for the visit visa in India or in Dubai - The reason I mention Dubai is because -3 months back I got my H1-B from there after getting all the security clearance - so would it be easier to get the visitor visa from the same counsellate.

Any other advice on this situation would be really helpful. If anyone has gone through a similar situaion or know of someone who did - would love to know what they were asked in the interview and what documents they provided.

    Thanks
    --Gubloo

Apply for the visa from where you are and be upfront about your situation to the VO. You need a visitor visa to take care of stuff there and will be back to get involved with your new start-up idea. Prove ties to home country in terms of work, property etc.

A security clearance obtained from a consulate does not mean a new visa will be quicker/easier. They will need to go through the entire process again if your name gets a hit. No exceptions.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
