  • Visitor Visa for Sister

Hi, My younger sister is 17 years old and is unmarried. We are trying to sponsor her for visitor visa to USA. She is currently studying in class 12th in India. She wants to visit us just for about 1 month. What are the chances of her getting the visa. I have green card and am married. Are there any other documents we need to provide.
    Thanks.

If she shows that her parents are financing her instead of you, she will have a much better chance. You will only need to send an invitation letter in that case.
For this, your parents will need to show a very good family income
    (Rs 10 lacs/yr) in India.

If this is not possible, she could try with your sponsorship( invitation letter+ I-134+ bank & tax statements), but for very young and single people there is always a risk of denial.

    Also, remember
if she plans to apply for a student visa after schooling, she should skip this visitor visa because a denial may affect her future student visa app.
