Applying for I-140 with expired I94

Hi,

I am applying for I-140 and I need to submit the copy of I94 along with other documents. My I94 expired last month and I applied for H1B extension in July and waiting for the approval and new I94. Can I send the I94 that I have which is already expired? Does it cause any issues? Or do I need to submit any other documents related to the H1B extension application?

Proof of H1b extension being filed before the I-94 expired would help avoid any RFEs.
