  • Visitor Visa - Parents Coming to USA

    Hi,
    I am planning to invite my parents next year to US. I read at many places that they need have some property and bank balance in India to substantiate their case. I have couple of properties in India but both in my name. My Question is that:
    1.Is it absolutely necessary to have the property papers in their name?
    2.Can they show my property papers as a proof to substantiate their case that they will come back to India?
    3.How much bank balance shoud be enough to show?

    Appreciate your response?

    Property is not mandatory. There are other factors that are more important.
    Please mention;
    * your visa status in US and your annual income roughly.
    * how long have you been in US?
    * any siblings in INdia or in US? How many ? ages, married or single?
    * what do your parents do?
    * Their sources of income?

        If your mom will come alone, then chances of her getting the visa will increase. Because your dad in India will act as a strong tie to which she will return. They will ask her how long she wants to stay and she should say about 2 months. Some people make a suicidal mistake here by saying 5, 6 months which makes the officer think they may not return.

        Property is not mandatory. Nor is any fixed amount in the bank. She can take evidence of whatever savings they have. She should take her husband's salary slip to show his employment status. They will ask about his work and his income.

        You should send an invitation letter which should include your employment status/visa status and send an affidavit of support ( I-134) with supporting financial docs. Also, a copy of your passport , visa, a birth certificate showing your mom's name( if you have one).
