counting number of days in US

Hi,

How should I count the duration of each visit in US

Suppose

I left US on Jan 4th evening and then came back to US on Jan 10th evening

So duration in US will be

xx - Jan 4th or xx - Jan 3rd.

and then the next one will be

Jan 10th -xx ?

You were NOT in US between Jan5th and Jan 9th. The days that you were partly present should be counted as if you were there the whole day.

Thanks for the reply. Suppose there is a change in status when I was in US should I mention that
like

Aug xx 2000 - May xx,2001 - F1-Status
June xx ,2001- July xx 2002 - H1B Status

Or have one line like this

Aug xx 2000 - July xx 2002 ( F1 and H1B status)
