Desiman we need your hear from you too..
Shyna,
Evidence in your own words:
“A casual look at this forum and other forums on the net would reveal that the majority of parents are here for baby-sitting. The economy loses much more out of a six-month stint of baby-sitting than it would gain from a visit to Niagara Falls. Even if the whole visit ends up contributing to the economy, it probably does not justify the loses incurred from providing social services to the those who stay back”
I do realize we must think outside the box, not from our perspective rather from the perspectives of the US consulate. Additionally, ever since the IT boom, the immigration procedures have been somewhat stringent. This may have resulted from new immigrants or individuals with work visas manipulating the system. In their defense, I must argue that some of them may have genuine reason for having their parents over. I.e., complicated pregnancy, don’t have any relatives in the US, can’t afford baby-sitting with the salary, illness, and I can go on and on….
Let me tell you something, even white-Caucasian resort to their parents or loved ones for babysitting or any other child care needs. So your argument in my opinion yields no merit. What I am trying to get across is that we must let them be aware these people have genuine needs which must be considered. May be you are finically well off, but remember, not all of us are. If one feels that it’s a privilege to be in the US , believe me, your voices will never be heard. You have to assimilate and provide constructive criticisms whenever appropriate.
Your arguments about Indian’s alliances with Russia plays very little role when it comes to consular matters. If you take a look at word history, bitter enemies often creates alliances, do you not remember, Russian is now one of our allies. On the contrary, now we are in war with one of our allies from the past. This is how the world works.
.
For Sons and daughters that might be citizens, they have the RIGHT file for their parents. However, not all parents want to migrate to the US. Some just want to visit go back. Visiting visa might be most appropriate. And it is the most efficient route for both the country and the applicant. Your argument about the less immigration scrutiny-- India is a country of PEACE, thus, most people have good intentions. We should not penalize others for the actions of few that commit financial and social burden on the country.
By the way, we are delighted to know that you don’t drive under the influence of alcohol, especially when your have your children in the car.
