  • Can sponsor be in india during visitor visa interview?

I am currently in the USA (GC holder) and sent the papers (complete set) for my parents-in-law visitor visa. But, due to an emergency, i am having to make a short trip to India. It is just so happens that I will be in India while my parents-in-law go to the interview at the US consulate. Is that going to be any problem for their visitor visa? Should they tell them that I am in india on an emergency trip or not, if they ask about me? PLEASE answer as soon as possible. Your response is much appreciated.

I checked with a lawyer and according to him, me (sponsor) being in india would not cause any problem in their visa issuance.

A sponsor for a visitor is not mandatory at all. A visitor qualifies on their own merit irrespective of the sponsor.
