u don't have to prepare any letter. If u meet them and explain your situation, they will prepare letter them selves and send that to consulate by FAX.

You can write to senators and congressman and they forward a letter in their own format to consulate for explanation.

I had asked a question about any visa getting rejected after the sponsor wrote to senator/congressman and it elicited no response. why dont you start a new thread asking people whether senators/congressmans enquiry has helped them or harmed them ( which i doubt)?

My parents got 6 month visa in 2002 and they were rejected in june 2004. I had written to 2 senators and 1 congressman and they have all enquired at Mumbai consulate. Now my parents are going for interview on sep 20 ( mon )..

If the case is already pending at consulate without any response from them , then definetly Senetor's letter will help in moving the case.

I saw many cases like that.

my moms visa was rejected citing 214 b. she has an interview next month.

Pending at consulate means, some times Consulate will take all the documents when we went for Visa and they will tell us that they will call back us again. After that they won't call us back and they won't tell ask about any other documents also.
If we send them email, simply they will reply saying that our case is in review.

In this type of cases , if we meet senator, they will help us by asking Consulate the reason for delay.

But you also can try to meet Senator and get a letter from him. Hope that will help your mom in getting Visa.

I know the cases where Senator letter helped in getting Visa.

But both the cases I know are pending cases. Consulate just put their Visa application in hold. They didn't say anything if they need additional documents. And they didn't responding for emails also. Then he meet senator and explained the situation.

Senator's office sent a letter to consulate by Fax, asking the reason for delay. In the same letter they asked the probable Estimate of time also . Consulate immediately moved the case within 2 weeks and issued them Visa .

So if there is genuine reason, we can definetly meet senator and get the letter .

My parents got visa at Mumbai consulate today (sep 20). They used Hindi interpretor and were asked basic questions. They had gotten 6 months visa in 2002 and they stayed 4 months and went back.

In June 2004 they reapplied and were rejected for no apparant reason after a 1 min interview. They didnt use Hindi int at that time. This time they used and also I had written to 2 CA senators and my local LA congressman. All of them had enquired with Mumbai Consulate and I have acknowledgement from them...Dont know if the senator/congressman intervention helped..They should get passport tomorrow so i would know whether they got for 10 yrs or not.
