  • Answer to an imp Q needed ASAP. Please help

My mom appeared for a visitor visa interview for the first time on July 1, 2004 and got rejected. They asked only two Qs - 1) How many children do you have? (2 children, me and my sister) 2) Where do they lvie? (both of us in US) and rejected her application right away. Also she being a widow. A common scenario I guess. She's appearing again for a second time on Sep 28, 2004. Someone in India (my mom's colleague's son) who apparently presumes to know quite a bit abt visa processes has told her that she would in all probability get rejected again if she mentions in all her documents (wherever it is required, like her employment letter, leave letter, my personal letter of invitation to her et al.) that she's going to US for six months and advised us to change it to two months instead. So, here's my questions
    1) Wouldn't mentioning two months still get her only two months visa (that is if she's lucky to get the visa this time around)? So, what do you guys think is the best option? I know there's no fool proof, 100% guaranteed way or answer, but what in your opinion is the better answer?
    2) Is it necessary that all the documents I send her as a sponsor like my passport phocopies, social security number card photocopy should be in color? @#%$'t a regular black and white photocopy good enough?

Thanks for your replies in advance

I am not sure how far this is going to help...

I read a post recently about a rejection in same situation. The lady said that she would visit only for 2 months instead of 6mts. But I dont remember for how long her visa was issued.

About the color of the xerox copies, I sent black and white and I dont think it would matter if its black and white or color.

I asked my parents to attach the affidavits they prepare instead of waiting to be asked for. We never know why they dont see all the documents but just try in various ways for them to atleast SEE what we submit.

This is the first time I am reading someone sending the copy of SS card. Is that necessary?

    Good luck

    Krishna

Thanks xoom for your reply. No. I haven't sent the social security card photocopy. I don't think I will. It was something this guy (my mom's colleague's son) said that we should send. But, to me whatever this guy said all appeared totally ridiculous and outta whack. I mean, this guy said a bunch of other things as well which I heard for the first time. Even the colored photocopies was his idea. I don't think I will send that either. I've never heard of people sending colored photocopies.
Anyway, at the end of the day, it all boils down to convincing those guys at the consulate that my mom will return to India.
I am mainly concerned about the period of stay that is to be mentioned in all the documents.
Has anyone in the recent past, since July 1, 2004 put the period of stay as six months and still were lucky to get a visa? If someone did, would you please post your reply here?
