Hello, all. I'm new to this site but I need help urgently!
I'm currently finishing my OPT(ending very very soon) and trying to apply for change of non-immigrant status from F1 to B2. I heard it's possible. However there seems to be very little information on this. Please help! If anyone has experience with this and can tell me how it went, that would be appreciated.
1, I understand I should submit the following documents.
*Form I-539
*I-94 (please clarify on this. Do I need to submit a copy? or Original?)
*Written statement on why I'm requesting to get B2 and that I'm planning to return to my home country.
In addition...
*Bank statement
*Copy of my return flight reservation to my home country booked approx. 6 months later
*Copy of my health insurance and payment for my future pension in my home country (I'm going to translate it to English)
*Filed document for tax return for 2008 (I worked during OPT)
Do you think documents listed above is enough? Anything additional? Anything I'm missing? I am wondering if I need to submit, say, a copy of my I-20 or something related my F-1.
2, A specific question about form I-539. I need to fill out my SS# and A#.
---May I just write the SS# I received for my OPT (which says valid for work only with DHS authorization)?
---As for A#, is it the A# that's on my employment authorization card?
3, What do you think of e-filing? Is it accurate? I understand I can e-file the form only and I have to send the other supporting documents by mail. When do they officially received my application if e-filing? Once the form is received online?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
