10 years visitors visa status when extension is denied

Hi,

My parents have 10 years visitor visa, but last time when they visited US, they overstayed the allowed time for that visit by two weeks. The overstay happened because the extension reply didn't arrive ontime and the extension request was denied.

Does this mean , do they have to re-apply for visitor visa or their 10 year visa is still valid.

Sorry to be asking further question, as we did not recieve any communication about the visa stauts, do we have to check the visa status, before we re-apply.

How can we confirm the visa status, can we check with the local consulate in India or can your firm provide legal help for a charge. Thank You.
