Drop Box : Consulate called for Perwsonal Interview

Same situation here

My mother applied thru dropbox but they sent her passport back saying that they needed photocopy of my passport and also asked her to come for personal interview.

When she went for personal interview she carried copies of my passport but still got rejected. I think that if the consul officer gets some doubt that an applicant is a potential immigrant they ask for personal interview.

Yes , first time

She is 68 and widow. Applied first time. If it had just been the question of my passport copies only, they would'nt have asked to come to Chennai. I don't know what triggered it. She did not send a personal affidavit/property papers through drop box. Could it be that? From experiences of people I read on this site, in most cases they don't even see those documents. I am totally clueless.

My parents had valid visa from last year..so they tried to renew it..the were absolutely eligible for the drop box.

ans to your previous question..they got the receipt for the application fees..they need not pay again.

i have heard that parents of my friends had similar experience...and were granted visa in personal interview..
so i think that it all depends on the interview, more thatn anything else...
