  • Bringing my baby back to US with my In-Laws

    Hi All,

We went to India in DEC'08 to celebrate our baby's first birthday and left him there with my in-laws (we had to move to different state that's why we did it). My In-laws have mulitple entry visa to USA. They are planning to come to US for the first time in this MAY first week. Our plan is to bring back our baby with them. By MAY end my baby will complete 6 months stay in India.

Our baby is a US citizen. We both are Green Card holders.

    My question:
Do we need to get any authorization letter or letter from anywhere to bringing the baby with them?

Is there any restriction for bringing the baby with someone other than parents?

    thanks.

In their best interest, an authorization letter would be handy in case of trouble at POE. I am saying this cos on the recent reality TV episode on ABC, one family gets held up at POE as the children they are bringing in as USCs were being smuggled into US.

An authorization letter from both the parents of the baby would be helpful. There is no harm or cost in providing it, just in case.

Thanks......... Do we need it attested by the Indian Embassy or a simple authorization letter would be enough?
