Hi,
My mom's carry bag was stolen at Newark International Airport, from her cart. Unfortunately that happened after baggage claim and customs so airline wouldn't cover the damage. And as it was a carry bag and not a checked in item, her medical insurance wouldn't cover it either.
It seems that this is a very common problem at Newark Airport, and indians are major target! (yes, be extra careful, if someone is arriving at EWR) I personally feel that port authority is responsible as they didn't have any preventive measures in place to stop such crime, even though they acknowledge the problem (no signs/no warnings/no cameras!!). And they aren't doing much even now. I have contacted local TV stations to cover and investigate such incidents questioning "Whose fault it is?"
Anyways... I would like to know if anyone has any suggestion on what other avenue can I take to claim such loss. Also is anyone aware of any class action law suite or something similar. We did file police report and do have case number.
