  • 221(g) yellow card denial at New Delhi consulate

My parents have visited the US 7 times before on the 10 year visitors visa. They applied for nonimmigrant visitors visa after the earlier visa expired.

My mom got hers but my dad received the 221(g) yellow form and was told that further administrative processing is required. He was told to wait for 2 weeks. They also kept his passport. It has been 5 weeks now. How long does this normally take? We are more concerned since they have his passport which prevents him from even travelling anywhere else.

    Thanks for a response.

Must be usual name check and to verify if they had any overstay in the past from the visits. If they kept the passport, it is a good sign that they will return soon. If he has to travel elsewhere, he can contact the embassy and ask for returning the passport.
