  • Visitor's visa for aunt - Question

    Hi all,

I have a question regarding sponsoring visitor's visa for my aunt (mother's sister) and her husband. Can I really do that? I am planning on sending her supporting documents that are recommended for parents. She has enough property etc in India and will for the most part be sponsoring her own trip. however she will be traveling with my mother and stay at my place in the US.
Has any one really sponsored a visa for relatives other than parents? Can you give any pointers/possible complications etc?

Also she falls under Chennai whereas my Mom falls under Bombay. Can my aunt apply to the Bombay consulate for her visa?

    Thanks.

    Yes, you can sponsor them.

They have to go to Chennai.

      Thanks

      Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone have any experience with sponsoring visas for their relatives other than siblings and parents/parents-in-law?

      What are the issues involved?

My aunt and my mother will be going to Mumbai and Chennai respectively for their visas, both with sponsorship letters from me.

      Please share your suggestions/experiences. Thanks.

        Not a problem

It should work like sponsoring your parents.
We have sponsored my husband's aunt recently and there was no problem at all.

        Good luck

          Question for NJUser

          Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Can you describe what all documents you had to send to your husband's aunt for the visa?

Also, what questions did she get asked? If you prefer I could ask the questions over email. My email is [email protected].

          Thanks.

            Answer

Exactly same way that you would do to sponsor your parents. Same set of documents and nothing different in this case.

As for questions, surprisingly she was not asked anything at all! She was given 10 yr multiple entry visa.

            Hope it helps
