Applied for Visitor Visa - admin processing

Hello All,

Me and my husband had an interview on 4th August. Everything went well. Even officer said that he is issueing us the visa. But till now we have not got our passports. When I contacted the embassy,I was told that admin processing is going on. But during interview we were not given any kind of form. Our passports are still with them.

Could you please tell us what is exactly admin processing? Why is being done on us when the officer had already approved the visa? How long this process can take to complete?
