I have a valid H1 visa and waiting in India for my onsite travel.However in the meantime,I wish to visit the US as a visitor on a short trip to visit my relatives.If I apply for and get a tourist visa will my H1 become invalid? or Is there a way I can travel on my valid H1 eventhough it is not on company work.

H1b remains valid. You cannot travel on H1b for visiting.
