New to this! Philippines to New York

My Philippine girlfriend and I have been talking for a while about getting her a tourist visa to come to New York. Now I read that I should have $5000 in the bank! I have squat in the bank, but make $500 or more take home a week.
Is there any chance of being approved do you think?

There is no set rule for specific amount of money.

You should have enough money set aside to take care of the person's expenses.
