    Hi,
    My sister got a job offer for chef/cook in a restaurant in US.
    what visa does she need to work.

          so what would be the visa with which one can work as chef in US.

          also, do restaurants or hotels sponsor such visa ?

          can u guide me to any resource web/phone who will have this info ?

            Chefs visa has been handled inconsistently by the consulates as they can qualify under multiple visa types.

            It really depends on who the employer is. If it is a large hotel that employs degreed chefs from professional institutions, they can sponsor a H1b. The key is the position MUST require a degree in hospitality management or culinary arts etc.

            Chefs can also qualify under E-2 visa as well. Celebrity chefs with extraordinary ability can petition a O-1 visa. If it is a chain restaurant and has locations worldwide and the chef has managerial responsibilities over lot of other people, L-1 is a possibility too.

            It just depends on what you are looking for and what your qualification is. In general, E-2 is the way if the employer wants to sponsor.
