Hi,
This is my case: when I was 7 years old (1988) I went to the states illegally with my mom and sister. My mother went under a protection program due to the civil war in my country during the 80s and she had a work permit. She was processing the residency for the three of us when I decided to return to my country ten years later (1998). I was aware I would lose the process, but I had been estranged by my mother. My mother and sister received their residency in 2000 and their citizenship in 2005. I have been living in my country for 11 years now, I have a stable family of my own, a very good job and my own home. I went to apply for a tourist visa today and the consul said I was not eligible because I had a family history of illegal entry into the US. My mother will not be applying for a family petition for me at any time, I hardly speak to her.
How long can I wait to reapply? Could it be possible that because I entered the US illegal when I was a child that I will never be able to travel there for tourism?
Thank you much for your response.
