$1,250 US Dollars for interview?

A friend of mine from Mexico is wanting to visit my family and I so he has begun the application process. However, he recently sent an email asking for 1,250 dollars which is what he claims it cost for a consular interview. I was wondering if anyone else is aware of this aspect of the visa process and if the amount of money seems to be accurate.

Trust your friend.

B1 visa fee is USD $160 (One hundred Sixty Dollars) only & apart of that you do not pay anything to US Embassy. However there may be other expenses, like documentation, travel to embassy etc.
