I am filling up DS160 my grand father was retired 12 yrs ago and now they are asking to list last 5 yrs .. do we still need to mention the previous employmnt information ? please let me know..

No, you don't need to. You can fill retired and if asked during the interview you can explain. It really doesn't matter. It's actually for seeing if you have strong ties in India and employment is one of the ties. But someone who is legally retired doesn't need to show that too.
