Fingerprinting questions

will somebody please explain to me the various purposes for having fingerprints? please confirm that fingerprint is not only for employment purposes. will there be any problem if a visitor voluntarily went to a fingerprinting agency for a reason other than applying for a job?

My concern is this: A visitor/tourist is presently in the US waiting for a reply from the CIS regarding his application for extension of stay. While there, he brings and picks up a relative (a US citizen) working in a care home. Since he appears to frequently visit the care home, the administrator of that care home requested that the subject tourist provide them with his fingerprints (for security purposes). So, he went to a Fedex outlet to have fingerprints. However, another friend told the subject tourist that he should not have done fingerprinting because it will put on his record that he was applying for a job. He is all the while aware of the immigration policies state that any tourists should not seek employment in the US. My question is: 1) did the subject tourist violate any immigration law when he had his fingerprinting? 2) Will the immigration be given a copy of that fingerprint and then his updated record will pose a threat on future plans to come back again to US?

I am still awaiting replies, clarifications and help from anyone who has knowledge on the issue I brought up about a week ago.

Will a visitor in US encounter a problem with his future plans of visiting US again if he had his fingerprints? Please note that the fingerprinting services was availed from the UPS and requested by a carehome from the subject tourist. As previously mentioned in my earlier posts, the fingerprints will not be used for employment purposes.
