  • Mother coming to take care of my aunt while she goes through chemo

    Hi All,

My mother (first time B2 applicant) is coming to New York to her sister (US citizen) to take care of her for couple of months while she (her sister) goes through chemo. Her sister lives alone in NY, is divorced, and her son lives in IL. I (on H1B) am buying her plane tickets and live in Utah. Her visa interview appointment is on the 12th. I couldn't find online what specific docs are required for an interview for B2 in these circumstances. So far, from resources and common sense, I am asking her to take the following:
    • Appointment confirmation
    • DS-160 confirmation
    • Passport
    • Doctor's note from her sister that specifies the illness, treatment, and need for someone who can take care of her constantly during a certain period of time. [verifying sister's condition]
    • Her bank statement and employment verification - to prove she has a job to come back to [ties to country]
    • Approved leave of absence application from her work for 2 months - to prove that her work has permitted to make this travel
    • Various pictures: proof that she is indeed her sister, and rest of her family (except me) lives in her country. [ties to family]
    • Copy of my bank statement - proof that I can sponsor her travel arrangements [financial]
    • Marriage certificate - proof that she is leaving her husband behind [ties to country]
    • Birth certificates of her children - proof that she is leaving children behind [ties to country]
Am I missing anything? Please feel free to share your experience as well. Anything in particular that stands out in interviews as such?

    Thanks

I doubt about this. VO can think that she is indirectly taking a job of caregiver.

Sounds good. I did the same for one of my aunts to come and take care of another aunt, and she got the visa with no problems. She got a 10yr and still travels and she did not even have a job or husband at home to go back to. It all depends on the embassy, but your documents couldn't get any better.
