  • In-laws, Sister-In-Law and nephew got Visitor Visa

It is time to give back to the form, as this forum has helped a lot in all respect to get this visa.

Few weeks back my Mother-In-Law (MIL), Father-In-Law(FIL), Sister-In-Law(SIL) and nephew (3 years old) went for a visitor visa and all of them got the visa. This was with Chennai US Consulate.

I was the sponserer for all of them and had the interview appointment set together to all of them and English was choses as the interview language.

On the interview date all went together and attended together following were the questions asked, though not sure on the order of questions,

    VO to all: Good Morning
    Family: Goodmorning
VO to SIL: What do you do?
    SIL: Working as YYYY
    VO: What is your income?
    SIL: YYYY Annual Income.
VO: Why you want to go to US?
    SIL: Tourism and family visit.
VO: Why is your husband not joining you?
SIL: He was not granted leaves by his company.
    VO: What does he do?
    SIL: Work as YYYY .
VO to MIL: What do you do?
    MIL: House wife.
VO: Do you own property here?
MIL: Yes, showed property papers as well an affidivate prepared by my friend for the same and who is a lawyer.
VO to FIL: What do you do?
FIL: Retired and had my own business?
VO: Do you own property here?
    FIL: Yes, showed documents.

VO: Took two minutes to type something in the computer and the golden words came out, you visa is approved and the passport will be sent to your address.

All of them got 10 years mulitple entry visa except my Nephew, he got for 5 years. This is because of his age and the passport vaildity. Generally kids are approved for 5 years visa, I beleive.

Probably few more questions as I might have missed some not many very few general quesions. The visa interview was hardly for 5-10 minutes. They were out from the embassy in less than 2 hours (from the entrance que to exit).

The VO did not ask for any documents I sent which was a huge file.

Hope this helps to other forum members
