Hello.
Thank you for providing some really useful information. I have a rather frustrating case as I am an Australian resident and have been refused a travel visa twice in the last 8 years. I applied for a travel visa the first time as I had a criminal record involving drug [personal possession] I also had a charge for theft from a local store. Not great I know. I was able to enter re-hab and have been clean for 14 years. The crimes were so long ago that they no longer appear on an Australian police check!
Unfortunately for me they are recorded with the consulate here in Melbourne. I have a 10 year old daughter and have re-married. The guy at the consulate was not that wrapped with the idea of me being on
centrelink even though I had some money behind me. He basically said well nothing has changed from the first time you applied. I'm also an active member of A.A and lead a very sober life. I feel so disapointed as
I have always wanted to go to the States.. I was told by the consulate I couldn't even enter U.S airspace to change flights at L.A to get a connecting flight to Canada if I wanted to!
Please advise what I can do. I know have a job and have been working for nearly 12 months. It's only part time but would this help my situation?
