  • B1/B2 Visa Issued for 1 year only

    Hello Experts,

I have applied for B1/B2 visa from Netherlands and got visa only for 1 year with annotation "Clearance received". Earlier I had C1/D visa for 5 years. My last trip to US was of 2 weeks only and prior to that I had 3 visits which were less than 24 hours. Now I am applying again for B1B2 visa. First question, why the visa was issued only for a year whereas I have friends who got visa issued for 10 years applying from another country. Second question, Does annotation on my last visa issued has any positive/negative impact on my chances of getting the visa again. Thanks

Each application is judged on its own merits. Your background, evidence submitted, and other factors determine the validity of the visa. The authority lies with the visa officer.
You may very well get a 1, 5 or 10 yr visa this time.
The annotation on a previous visa does not necessarily have a bearing on the new application. If any background checks show a “hit”, then a clearance is required, which could delay visa processing.
