  • Interview Qs-3rd attempt....pls.advise

My mother who's a widow is attending her 3rd consulate interview. I've a few questions as to what she can/cannot say. Please advise as i'm desperate to bring her to US, due to my pregnancy.

    1) My brother is in the US too. In the 1st interview, she said that n got rejected. In the 2nd, she was asked who she's living with and when she said alone, she again got rejected. So, this time we are telling her to say that she wants visa for only 3 months (doing which i heard increases chances of getting visa) as she has to perform her son's wedding upon return and that her old mother is dependent on her (true) & living with her (not true). Therfore, she needs to go back soon. So, this means she'd be saying that she's living with her son n mother. Is this ok? Will it work?

    2) I'm pregnant. I know that she's not supposed to volunteer that information but if asked, what should she say?

    3) We are sending her to an interview with an interpreter this time as opposed to the last two times. Will that help?

    4) If she's asked 'Why should we give you a visa now'?, can she say 'because the spring/summer time is the best to visit my daughter n son-in-law's place and i also need to perform my son's wedding upon return'. This is a Q she was asked in her 2nd interview.

    5) If she's asked 'What is different this time', what should she say?

    6) I heard that by looking at the passport, they'd know if there's been any rejections earlier. So, should my mother take the earlier 214b rejection papers and act like she's come the 3rd time or should she not mention any rejection at all?

    7) The 2 previous times she was not asked for any documents like property proof or affidavits which would prove her stong ties to India. Should she keep showing them, whether or not she's asked?

Please do answer these Q's as they'd help me a great deal.

    Thanks in advance.

Regarding pregnancy, I told my parents not to tell the truth if asked about it. Visa will be rejected if pregnancy is the only reason to come. Infact the officer asked if we have children and my mother said we are yet to plan.

Thanks immihelp & xoom75, for your replies.

I've one doubt, that is still not cleared- should my mother carry the 2 previous 214-b rejection papers with her?

Also, i've always been under the impression that whatever the duration of visa given, whether 1 month or 3-months, we can always get it extended. Is it right? Please let me know.

        Chirala.

          1. Yes.
          2. Yes, provided it is approved. Anyway, visa stamp is just for entering into US. Actual stay is determined at port of entry.

I'm very grateful to immihelp for the prompt replies. Thanks!

As an answer to my 1st question, immihelp replied that my mom could say that she's living with her SON & mother. But in her 2nd Ds-156 application, she might have ticked both son n daughter under Q37 . The consulate is supposed to keep old applications. In that case, 1)how can she say that her son is in India n living with her with this time?
            2) Does she have to tick both son n daughter under Q37, this time too and say that her son is in US, if asked.
            3) She has no time to obtain a property statement from CA, is it ok?
            4) If asked, immihelp said my mom should say i'm pregnant. But, if she does that, is she not contradicting her own answer of 'visiting US for tourism'. Won't that weaken her case?
            5) Does getting a stamp on the pp (from travel agent) showing that she has $1000 help?

Please please give me tips as to what to do make sure she gets a visa, this time around. I'm tired of the refusals and th heartache that follows. My mom is alone there and i can't even keep her with me for a few months. That makes me ( n my mom as well) very depressed.

1 & 2. Tell truthfully whatever the current situation is.
              3. She should do it if at all possible.
              4. It may.
              5. Not at all.

I'm very worried now. All this while, i'd prepared my mother to say that she's living with her son, although he's in US on H1. So, immihelp - does this mean she has to mention both me n my brother living in US, under Q37 of DS-156? But, i feel that will only lead to another rejection.

Even though they do keep earlier applications(Ds-156 etc), the situation could be that my brother went to back to India, sometime after her 2nd interview and hence, is now living with her. is it risky to answer like that? or would the officer right away reject when the previous n the current answers don't match?

Oh God, this is excrutiating! I've never gone through so much turmoil in my life!

                Any suggestions/advise/help is greatly appreciated.

                Chirala.

My mom went to the interview and got rejected again. I'm very heart broken. There was so much anticipation on both sides and now, there's only disppointment.

She told the truth to the questions asked and it was rejected. The whole process is so unfair. Even when documents are being presented voluntarily, the officer doesn't want to look at those but just rejects citing no reason.

Is it a sin for a widow with both kids in US, to even think of visiting them? Which other country puts visitors through such strenuous visa interview procedure? Think of the parent who goes to the interview hoping to get through and feels like its his/her personal failure when rejected.

My mom was so apologetic when telling me her visa was rejected, yet again! I'm very depressed, sad and feel helpless!! This procedure is unfair, is all i can say !

Sorry to hear that , your mother visa got rejected ,it is really very sad and totally unfair, nobody knows the exact reasons for denial.. may be things will improve as there are number of concerns about rejections.

At this time , there is nothing we can do . keep your hopes alive and all the best , also ask your mother to forget this as soon as possible .

May be you can try , after some time, once you feel confident about the visa process..

GOOD LUCK , and hope your loved ones understand the sitution ..
