Re-application for visitor visa

Hi,
My parent's Visitor visa got rejected in Oct. They have re-applied now. But again they asked for a 6 month visa. I read somewhere that it is beneficial to ask for 4 months visa. If anyone who was rejected the first time & got a visitor visa the second time & had asked for a 6 month visa, can share their experience with me, I would appreciate it.
Another question: If during the interview, my father is asked how long does he want to stay in US, is it ok for him to say 4-6 months or should he say exactly as is written in the application ie. 6 months? Pl. advise. Theri interview is on 17th feb.

My mom went twice n got rejected under 214b. Both times, it was 6 months, in the application. She's going again Feb, for the 3rd time. We requested 3 months this time and have our fingers crossed. We've asked her to say the same when asked by the visa officer.

Keep me mosted on when your parents are going for interview again and the result, as well.

My understanding is , it is ok to ask for 6 months again but chances are better if you say 3-4 months as we can always get it extended, once the visitor arrives here. What you say in the application should match with what you answer, when asked "how long", though.

There is no accurate way to determine whether the chances are higher or lower for 4 months vs. 6 months.

It all depends upon luck that day.
