Hello everyone,
I have had back to back tourist visas since I was 1 year old (1989-2015). In 2012, I obtained a J1 visa to study in the US, which expired in 2019. Since I was on that J1 visa, I let my tourist visa expire in 2015. I worked in the US in the Academic Training program part of my J1 visa from 2018 until 2021. Is it possible to renew this visa waiving the interview process? In my country the embassy is not conducting visa interviews at the moment for tourist visas, but if I get the visa waiver I could theoretically apply and get another one.
The new guidance states that the visa needs to have less than 48 months expired, which mine isn't. I have read in many places that exceptions can be made at the discretion of the embassy. Do you think I classify for one of these, or do you know of a similar case?
