  • B2 visa for FIL/MIL

    Hi,

We are planning to bring my father-in-law (farmer), mother-in-law (homemaker) and brother-in-law (working engineer) to the US. I’m filling DS160, What should I put under “who is sponsoring your trip” my father-in-law don’t have a fixed monthly income. Will it be fine if I put myself as sponsor for the trip (have enough savings)? What are the chances of my brother-in-law getting tourist visa? Also, how much savings should my FIL show?

There is NO such thing as a sponsor for B2 visa applicants...each applicant qualifies based on the merits of their OWN situation, not by promises made by third parties, whether relatives or friends.
If they are coming to babysit, that might present a problem. For how long are they 'planning' to visit?

      Hi,
As per my knowledge, If you invite for your relative and you have a strong reason to invite them then no issues. You will need to just give invitation letter to them. Other than that, During Interview, they will have to proof that, they don't have any intention to stay back in the USA for long time and they will return to their home country as soon as their purpose of visit got over.
These will be suffice for obtaining B visa.
      Thanks

Invitation letters are also NOT required and will not make a weak case stronger....for the most part, a CO does not care WHY one wants to go to the US; only WHY they will return,
