Hi everyone,
I recently applied for a visit visa to the US as I was planning to visit my friends for a month. I submitted all my forms to the VFS office and everything seemed fine, until I got to the interview counter a couple of days ago and they handed me a yellow form saying my visa is pending and that they will get in touch with me for further updates. Basically an administrative process letter, which I don't even know what it means.
Basically, it was just a regular interview, with the VO asking me why I am visiting and what I do. Answers were straight forward: I got my BA and MS in the US and now currently working in India and planning to visit my college friends during the holiday season. I recently graduated too, less than 2 years ago.
After the interview, she hands me the yellow document. WTF. I had all my paperwork, I graduated from there, so I have been to the US on a student visa, and nothing has taken place that I would say would create any sort of suspicion. I also have a very south Indian name, so I would be surprised if my name would come up on some alert list.
I am not sure what this yellow form entails? What should I do? In the document, the last part is checked, which says, "once we contact you, mail us the passport, this letter and the yellow envelope". What does this mean? Does it mean, I am granted a visa, but they just wanted to make sure that everything checks out with a background verification?
Am I supposed to just wait for them to get back to me? How can I find out the status of my pending visa? And if it takes too long, am I supposed to assume I have been rejected and apply again? This is so frustrating.
Has anyone gone through this? I would love to hear your comments and suggestions. Thanks in advance.
