  • Translator at interview question

    To whom it may concern

I have used your website to gather information o sponsoring some one from India for a B-2 visa. The website is very helpful. Thank you!

I have a question that I hope you or some one in your agency can answer: Is it correct that the applicant for a B-2 visa needs to speak English so that he/she can have the interview with the US Embassy in English? If yes, is there any way to get a translator? It does not seem to make sense that some one needs English language skills in order to get a visa to travel in the US, especially when they are traveling the whole time with English speaking family members and friends.

If they speak English, they can have the interview in English. If they don't speak English, they can ask for the translator for that language.

There is no requirement that the person must speak English in order to travel to the U.S.
