You can always apply for a B2 visa but you have forgotten the main issue to overcome: you have already shown your lack of respect for our laws and the privilege you once had - namely, the Visa Waiver privilege.....so, from a CO's point of view, why would/should they believe you when you tell them you are sorry (whatever that means) and convince them you won't return to your previous job in the US? They will not care WHY you want to return to the US; only that you would respect the terms of a B2 visa....and mumbling some apology will not convince even the newest of COs, let alone those with experience. It's easy to say 'I'm sorry'....since it means nothing. They will be focusing intently on whatever current job you supposedly have (and just started, since you had no meaningful employment up til now, since you decided to supplement your income while allegedly being a tourist during your last 'visit' to my country. I would say that your chances right now are about zero and will remain zero for quite some time, as credibility is easily lost but very difficult to regain.
Now some janitor, bostonian 321 something or other, will try to tell you different, and how you could write some weepy letter that will convince a CO of your new found honesty, but since he has never been a CO, his 'advice' will be suspect at the very least.
Violating our laws is a serious matter and will not be overlooked just because you say you are sorry or whatever, because no one will believe it.

nothing has really changed...you violated our laws, and now you are trying to blame that transgression on some nebulous situation that can easily resurface (if true) given the new strain of Covid knocking on the UK's door. All the papers in the world cannot restore credibility...papers prove NOTHING nor can papers control the intent of anyone. Phrases such as 'I have to report to work in X amount of time' are absolutely worthless. After all, if you do not return, will INTERPOL be looking for you ? (no) If you return to work illegally in my country, will the UK send their police after you? (no)...thus, since there is no meaningful penalty on the horizon if you decide to thumb your nose at our laws & rules, what value is some silly piece of paper that makes claims that are not even legally enforceable? I cannot tell you how many visa applicants I interviewed after they were denied admission and had their visas revoked for having worked in the US without permission...and just about every one of them retold the same nonsense you are trying to sell now...."gosh, I'm sorry, I won't do it again and here's a letter that says I have a job and have to return for some meeting or whatever...."....I had an easy response to their charade.......
No document has some supernatural force over a human being....letters from anyone prove nothing. Apologies and promises are worthless. If I were you, I would not be making any travel plans to my country for a long long time.

well...now I am going to forward your latest ill tempered response to a colleague of mine who is currently working in the embassy in the UK......and your child-like response instantly demonstrates why no CO is going to give you a visa for a long long time....because your tantrum reinforces my (and other CO's) belief that you will not abide by the terms of any visa you are or might be seeking.
So while you think you are witty or clever, you have just sealed your fate. In fact, I am going to encourage my colleague to examine your case even more closely should you foolishly apply while he/she is there.....and with any luck, you will not enjoy the results. In the meantime, just think of all of the money you'll be saving on air fares while staying home.
You posted on this site looking for some salvation or some soothing response from those who have no experience in this area....but you did not get it.....now, even if you do buy into some other person's pie-in-the-sky reply, you will have a greeting committee waiting for you at our embassy. My colleague (and his/her's as well) will not be so easily taken in.
You have a nice day now.

I noticed that you tried the same futile posting on another site and got pretty much the same responses.....I truly hope that you spend the money on some shady immigration attorney who will easily convince you that if he or she writes some letter to the consulate, all will be well....but then, immigration attorneys prey on those with below average intellects.
