Parents visitor visa B2 - 221g White Slip

Hello All,

My parents multiple entry visitor visa expired few months ago and they applied for a new one. Luckily, they got drop box appointment. My mom 10 year visa was renewed but my dad got his passport with a white 221(g) slip , no stamp on passport. The white slip asks him tp appear for an interview before 10 AM within a year. No additional documents.
Please advise, did anyone else went through the same situation?

Helllo, May I please know the time it took to get the passport back with the decision after dropping the passports? Also, did they put any reason in 221(g) slip?

Please advise what the outcome was. My parents (72 & 67) both got the 221-g white slip and have been asked to come in person to Chennai consulate. Appreciate any inputs.
