How USA Visitor Visa duration count?

Hi All,

I have quick question on my parents' visitor visa duration.

Here is scenario, my parents are coming to USA in May but after 6-7 days they will go to Canada for 3 months then will come back to USA again for another 3-4 months if possible.

So, how does 6 months count here?

When they will come back after 3 months in Canada, new 6 months duration will start from there?

or

6 months will start whenever they will come to USA first time?

Any advice or recommendation appreciate it.

They get a new six months (provided their visa is still good).
