  • Visitor Visa Questions

    Hi

I have several visitor visa questions.

    1) My father is a government employee and i want them to stay here for 6 months for that should he need to get
a leave letter from his office for 6 months. In case if he gets a leave letter for only 3 months then should he
request only that period(3 months) in his DS-156 Form and even i send a letter stating him that he stay here only
for three months. In case if he gets a leave for 3 months and he applies for 6 months in his DS - 156 form and can
he say at the embassy that he can extend hi leave latter

    2) My father is above 45 does he need to fill DS -157 form.

    3) In DS - 156 Question No 22 do we need to write the specific date that they arrive or can we specify
any approximate date such as ( April 1 week) or say it as " Not Known" because i am planning to buy tickets once
    they get visa.

    4) In DS - 156 Question No 27 the purpose of the trip can it be " Tourism and visit son" or just "tourism"

    5) Are bank staments enough for providing the "Proof of Residency" in USA

    6) Do I need to send the real paystubs and w2 forms to my parents or do i need to send the photo copies of those.
In the same way do I need to send the real I- 797 (H1 approval notice ) to them or a photo copy of it should be fine

    7) I have my company's group insurance for me, my father and my mother can i specify it in Question 7
of the I-134 form that I have a life insurance in the sum of YYYY amount.

I am eagerly looking for reply

    Thanks

    1. Visa is only for entering into country. Actual stay determined at port of entry. You can say 3 months every one and still can get 6 months at port of entry.

    2. no

    3. Approx dates. Do not write "Unknown"

    4. Either one.

    5. No. You have to show proof of legal status.

    6. Originals.

    7. Yes

    8. Buy visitor medical insurance for them, available for instant purchase at https://www.insubuy.com

But on your site, in the sponsor documents section it says to send copies of pay stub & W2 and also of I-797.
Why do we have to send originals?

Just the photo copies of pay stubs and w-2s would do but original letter from bank, letter of employment Notarized I-134 for each applicant. Thats what I put for my parents apart from other letters

There is no official rule regarding this.

In most cases, photocopies would do as well. But in case there is any doubt about the authenticity of those papers, and if they ask for originals, you will have to go there again for visa.
