Sponcering Visitors visa for my parents

I am a Greencard holder and want to sponser my parents visit to US. My one year average of my bank statement wont be more than 2K. But my average balance of one year in stocks is atleast 10K.

I am not sure how much money I should show in my bank statement for both my mom and dad. Can I use my stocks money as my saving or financial strength?

Irrespective of the actual number, answer this yourself "Do you have enough money to reasonably take care of your parents while they are here?"

If the answer is yes, and you can show that, it is fine.

How will you be able to take care of their expenses if you have less than 2K with you?

I am actually showing 10K in the bank account. Me and my wife both are working in IT and we have been making huge payments on our loans thats why I did not have cash but I wont make more payment than I have to while they are here. We have our tax returns and paystubs as supporting document but you are right if I can not take care of their expenses then everything else does not really mean anything.

For how many months should I keep 10K in account before I send the bank statement and other documents for my parents visa interview.
