DS-160 error - reroutes to FAQ state dept page every time or does not recognize my correctly inputted Captcha code!!!
I cannot get passed either issue. Downloaded Mozilla Firefox to use instead of my Chrome. Chrome 58 is no longer available.
I seem to be the only one who has this issue. I am helping my Thai wife apply for her 2nd one here in Thailand. Tried in vain to speak to a Consulate staff. Just recordings.

we checked to allow javascript for all sites, we even added the specific ceac website; restarted my MacBook Air, and tried again to fill in the DS160 form.
Encountered the same captcha issue on Chrome and Firefox. Literally back to square one each time.

I don't find it strange about errors from captcha. I always come across them. It's complicated.
