Time frame for travel on visitor visa

Hi,
My parents got B2 tourist visa in September 2010. I heard it is mandatory to travel atleast once to USA within 6months of getting Visa stamped else visa get expired. Please provide more info on this if this is true.

What you have heard is wrong.
Even if they get to the US for the first time on the last day of the validity date stamped in their visa they will be permitted to enter the country.
