  • Birth date mismatch between old & new passports

I am planning to apply tourist visa for my mother. My mother applied for the new Indian passport recently since her old passport got expired. In the old passport, by mistake my mother had given the wrong date of birth while applying during the 90's and our passport office had issued the passport with the wrong date. Her old passport got expired and now she applied with the correct date but this time our passport office got all the information like birth certificate etc. and issued the passport with the correct date of birth. There is a discrepany in the date of birth between the old and the new passports.
Now the issue here is I applied tourist visa for her in 2002 and she got the US visa stamped in the old passport with the wrong Date of Birth. She visited me in US just for a week in 2002 and returned back due to an emergency. Now I want to apply tourist visa for her again. Will there be any problem during the visa interview if we explain to the officer clearly what had happened? I just want to know if anybody come across this situation and how the situation is handled. any help on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks much!

If asked, just explain what happened and show the proof such as birth certificate etc.
