USA visa entry question

Went to US a couple of years back on a j1 visa for 3 months, got paid cash in hand so didn’t pay tax.

I want to go back again soon but afraid they might refuse me entry somehow. I never got a taxpayer number so wouldn’t be in record that I got paid.

Just wondering if anyone has done this and if they questioned you about it? And wondering if it would be ok to just return on a tourist visa? Any help is appreciated, thanks

How long have you worked in the US and what is your current salary? You should look up information online because if your salary does not meet the average level, they will not ask you to pay taxes.survivor io
