I am currently on an H1B visa and had to resign from my job ( as a physician) for personal reasons. I want to remain in the United States for a few more months to sell my house and dispose of my possessions. I am aware of the 60-day grace period and am currently about 30 days into it. Additionally, I have a valid B1/B2 visa on my passport, as well as a Canadian tourist visa. My options include traveling to Canada and reentering on a visitor visa or applying for adjustment of status internally. Which option is the best for extending my stay? Would it be preferable to exit and re-enter on a tourist visa or to apply for internal adjustment of status? If I do choose to apply for adjustment of status, what is the usual processing timeframe? I need approximately 2 months.
