Question about the legality of working as a remote contractor in the US

So I am a self-employed citizen of Northern Ireland / the UK. I have been working remotely for a US-based company for a year and a half now. I get paid in invoices to my business and pay self assessment taxes through my business. Basically, I am a contractor being paid by this company to work remotely from the UK. I have no actual employment with

Now, if I want to go to the USA for a trip to visit someone - but continue my remote work - would this be allowed? Since I am still operating my sole trader business but just from abroad. I am in the US, but my employment status and relationship to this company has not changed at all. Or would that fall under entering the US for work and require some kind of business visa?
