Is it safe to travel to Mexico as an Indian now? With a valid B1/B2 US visa?

Ive heard horrible things from Indian nationals trying to visit Mexico regarding them being detained and deported despite having valid documents. I’ve spent the last 10 years living in the US and now live in Canada, but still hold an Indian passport.

I have a valid US and Canada visa and work permit, and want to visit Cancun for a week. Is it safe to do so, or am I better off canceling the trip?
